How good are these stabis? - bloody fantastic! I've had mine for 2 and a half years (589 FISHR) there isn't a time when I'm out there that the stabi does somthing that blows me away. - We fish mainly in port phillip bay where this can get very nasty - having been caught in 35kn+ northerley winds it turns to poo very quickly . BUT NOT THIS TIME !! . This was the turning point which gave me the confidence to take the stabi anywhere. With other boats struggling with the following seas, all I could see was white caps smashing everywhere and boats trying to keep their bows out of the troughs - not us ! the stabi sat high & dry with sensible control no broaching no rolling nothing, the stabi knows the way home,- I got to the ramp safe & dry!! and waited for the others - all of them could not beleive what they saw- a plate boat outperform larger glass boats.!! thats why i go out in a stabi.. cheers

I am on my second Stabi (a 509 fshr with 70hp 2stroke Yamaha and 8hp aux.) My first Stabi was the 430 with a 40 Yamaha and after 350 hrs of endless fun I was allowed to upgrade to a bigger boat to take more mates out. A commercial cray potter bought the 430 which had got me out of one nasty situation when NW gusts to 50 knots hit. That was the weekend the Maori waka had to be rescued from the Tauranga entrance. This little boat, which I'd chosen on account of buoyancy for a middle aged guy handled the following seas beautifully. Admittedly the purge valves were streaming water back to where it belonged and with sensible driving, I felt very safe.

The 509 is a different boat but still serves me (us?) well especially as we surf launch. If ever I bought another vessel it would be a Stabi; this one should however serve me for some time. Good to see a NZ company leading the way.Drool

Hi STAMA
Not too keen on port Philip love western port though ,I do allot of fishing down at Port Welshpool my stabi just loves it ,we leave the bigger boats for dead in most conditions they are a safe boat to travel in with plenty off fishing room,I have a 609 xr 2005 model with a 140 Johnson have to hook up over the coming snapper season ,sure we can turn a lot off heads.
